New York Vocal Coaching was established in 2005 by leading vocal technician Justin Stoney. We firmly believe that everyone can — and was meant to — sing and make music. Our renowned vocal coaches and staff members execute our vision every day.

Ameer Corro is a Voice Teacher and Vocal Coach with 8+ years experience teaching Jazz, Gospel, Neo-Soul, R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop styles. He holds certification through New York Vocal Coaching's Voice Teacher Training & Certification Program, and has trained with leading contemporary pedagogues including Justin Stoney (NYVC), Eric Arceneaux (AApproach) and Sophie Jolls (1108 Vocal Studio).

Andrea is a Grammy, Olivier, and Drama Desk-nominated music director, arranger, and educator with a focus on developing new work. Her music directing & supervising credits include the Broadway musicals SUFFS (Tony Award winner, Best Book & Best Score), TOOTSIE (Tony Award nominee for Best Musical), and THE BAND’S VISIT (winner of 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical). Her other music directing credits include several productions at the Public Theater, three new musicals in Central Park with free Shakespeare in the Park, and premieres at Tony Award-winning regional theaters like the Yale Repertory Theatre, Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, Dallas Theater Center, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Andrea has also served as producer and music supervisor on several original cast recordings, including the Grammy-nominated original Broadway cast recording of SUFFS.
Andrea came to the NYVC Voice Teacher Training & Certification course in 2015 and discovered a love for vocal technique and voice teaching. Since then, she has been proudly teaching students of all levels and all musical tastes, maintaining a holistic perspective on singers’ needs as vocalists, musicians, and human beings. She loves helping her students both achieve their dreams and discover a love for the practicalities that lead there!
Andrea graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Princeton University, where she majored in Music and minored in Theater. She holds a Master's degree with Highest Honors in Musical Theatre Music Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher. She has particular passions for teaching music theory, ear training, and sight-reading, and she is the creator of WordWaves, a music theory framework that helps singers engage more deeply with text and musicality in song.
I believe that learning to learn is the most underrated, and the most invaluable, part of studying anything new. If you can enjoy making progress and discovering the unknown, you will enjoy learning anything!
So this review is long overdue but yes I can’t speak highly enough of this place. I have been taking lessons with Andrea for about eight months now and she has COMPLETELY changed my voice. It’s incredible!!!! Not only is she sooo knowledge and experienced, she is super kind, patient and always made me feel so comfortable. I’m able to sing in a way I never even dreamed I’d even be capable of... I mean I listen to my singing from eight months ago and it’s like night and day! Andrea Grody is by far the best vocal coach I've ever had. My singing has improved way more than I thought it could in the couple of months that I've been taking lessons with her. No matter how my voice feels going into a lesson, we always seem to break new ground in terms of technique and I have something new to go home and practice. (I've even been about a half hour late and still had a crazy productive lesson in just half the time). She tailors exercises directly to the song I'm working on and they're always remarkably effective. I really can't say enough good things about Andrea as a teacher and she's a super cool person as well. Lessons at NYVC are a steal- best money I've ever spent studying voice!
