Matthew Johnson


Voice Teacher Associate

Matthew Johnson is a voice teacher associate at New York Vocal Coaching. He specializes in voice technique for Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, R&B, and Classical, and has worked with students of all ages. In 2016, Matthew graduated from NYVC’s Voice Teacher Training and recently completed the Advanced Voice Teacher Training Intensive, both led by Justin Stoney.

Matthew has performed as a singer, actor, and dancer with regional theatres across Connecticut in productions such as: James and the Giant Peach (Ladahlord), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Jimmy), The Tempest (Trinculo), and I Pagliacci (Beppe). He has music directed many productions including: James and the Giant Peach, A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play, and Common Ground, which was performed at the 2018 New York New Works Theatre Festival.

A firm believer that music and song encourages a deeper appreciation, understanding, and confidence in the self, Matthew utilizes his unique experience of theatre and the voice to unlock strong, joyful, and healthy voices from his students.
